The Customer & Technology Center is a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility that accommodates our labs, office space as well as a customer center with color viewing areas, meeting facilities and training facilities.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that Americans spend about 90% of their day indoors, where the air quality can be significantly worse than outside. LEED standards promote strategies that improve indoor air as well provide access to natural daylight and views.  To comply with LEED guidelines, one of EMD’s goals was to provide natural daylight to all regularly occupied areas.  Both the office space and the lab areas receive optimal daylight.  An open floor plan and the use of glass partitions keep the space clear and bright.

Interior landscape design was used to select plants that improve the indoor air quality by reducing volatile organic compounds and carbon. We have followed standards set by the International Green Construction Code regarding the quantity/density of plants required to make substantial improvements to the indoor air quality. The “Living Wall” pictured above is one example of the plantings found throughout the space.
